After commuting between Coquitlam and Burnaby every day for over three years, this shelter was a long time coming. It's been amazing to be able to give the kids medicine twice a day if necessary without having a breakdown; even more amazing to walk outside the back door just to make sure they're ok.
The shelter, as all good things are, was a group effort. My Dad bankrolled the majority of it, Basil loaned me the money for the rest, Andrew Stimpson did a fabulous job of fine-tuning my vision on paper and actually building it (safe, warm and solid); while I provided the tea, supervision and overall vision ;-)
Thanks to my handsome and talented electrical engineer, the kids and I have electricity *and* plumbing in the shelter - a delightful luxury for all of us, and a critical component in keeping the bubbas safe this record-breaking winter.
My gratitude to Dad, Basil and Andrew is limitless.
